Prior to taking the Certification Exam you must qualify and apply for the exam.

Study material for the Exam

You will receive a Certification Study Manual when you apply for the exam.  You will need to study this manual.  You will also need to Study the AEMA Journals.

To Take the Certification Exam

  1. You need to mail all of the paperwork together with the Check.
  2. You need to apply prior to April 1 to get the normal rate of   $250.00, The price goes up to $300.00 from April 2- May 1.  After May 1 applications are not accepted.

Documentation Required with Application

1) _____ Employment Verification, A letter verifying employment for each school/organization worked for.  This letter must be from either the Personnel office or the Athletic Director.  Each letter should clearly state the type of employment and the beginning/ending dates of employment.  Each letter must be on official letterhead or have a  stamp/seal for the school/organization.  You need  to document 2 years of  paid non student experience if you have a College degree, or 5 years of paid non student experience if you have a High School degree OR Student managers experience (1800 Hours) must also be submitted on AEMA Student Manager Time Logs. Time logs must be completely filled out and signed by the supervisor.
2)_____    Proof of Age (photo copy of birth certificate or drivers license)
3)_____    Proof of Education (photo copy of High School, GED or College diploma)
4)_____    You must be an active member in the AEMA, with all dues paid.
5)_____    Registration Fee $250.00 (includes Certification Manual) postmarked before April 1
OR  $300.00 (includes Certification Manual) postmarked April 2-May 1.  After May 1 all applications will be returned.  In the event that you have already purchased the certification manual  please deduct $35.00 from your total MAKE ALL CHECKS OUT TO AEMA
The certification test is based on the role delineation. Questions are taken from resources such as The Certification Manual, the AEMA Journal, Convention Workshops, and information in the Resource Center. Transcripts and videotapes of convention workshops and /or journals can be obtained through the Resource Center. Over 90% of the questions are taken from the certification manual. A full listing of materials may be requested from the National Office.
