Assistant Athletic Equipment Manager–Old Dominion University

To help facilitate the safety of student athletes through sound allocation and fitting of equipment. Assist the Assistant Athletic Director for Equipment Operations in the ordering, inventory, issuance, use and maintenance of athletic department equipment for assigned sports according to established policies and procedures. Responsibilities include maintenance of daily operations and updating and improving current policies and procedures to accommodate future growth. Required to work nights, evenings, and weekends in addition to regular weekday hours. Travel may be required. Driver’s license required.

Working knowledge of athletic equipment supplies, equipment and/or services ordering inventory control.  Strong communication skills (verbal & written).  Must have excellent organizational skills and demonstrate computer literacy/proficiency.  Outstanding leadership, management, and interpersonal skills to relate to a wide and diverse group of staff, students, vendors, and community members.  Demonstrates ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment. AEMA Certification or ability to obtain certification within a year of employment. AEMA Certification or ability to obtain certification within a year of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:  Preferred course work in Sports Management.  Considerable experience operating a heat press and vinyl cutter machine.  Experience working with a Division I football program, to include fitting players for helmets and pads.  Considerable experience using Front Rush TRAC athletic equipment inventory system or similar system.  Some experience using the CoachComm Tempest NG or X-System.  Considerable knowledge of advanced laundry chemical and stain removal techniques. Some experience working with olympic sports.  Some experience working with Under Armour equipment and apparel.  Some experience managing interns/ volunteer staff.  Athletic Equipment Managers Association (AEMA) certification or ability to obtain certification within a year of employment.  Master’s degree and/or experience equivalent to an advanced degree.
