With over 650 student-athletes participating in UW’s 22 sports programs, the department of Intercollegiate Athletics is committed to providing student-athletes with the ability to compete for national and conference championships while working toward a degree from one of the world’s leading public research universities. This position reports to the Director of Equipment Operations. Work directly with coaches and staff to assure team equipment needs are met. Inspect, modify, repair and maintain athletic equipment and clothing. Fit athletes with uniforms and equipment; issue and receive equipment. Pack equipment and uniforms for road games. Order equipment, uniforms and supplies for assigned sports. Maintain records of issuance to athletes and staff. Maintain proper inventory records. Maintain daily operation of equipment room. Maintain required health, safety and security practices in locker room and equipment room. Operate spotting tables, washers, extractors and dryers to launder soiled clothing and equipment as needed. Assign and maintain lockers for athletes. Train student managers in equipment maintenance and accountability. Perform related duties as required. Compliance with the rules and regulations of the University, the NCAA, the Pac-12 Conference, the State of Washington and any other governing body is of paramount importance to the University. The overall responsibility of this position is for the successful operation of the program in full compliance with all such rules and regulations. Minimum Requirements – College degree in physical education OR three years of full-time experience in athletic equipment room operations. Additional Skills – Have a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Outlook and PowerPoint. Have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive golf carts, Gators and similar vehicles. Available to work nights and weekends and travel with teams as needed. Ability to lift/move and carry up to 50 pounds. Desired – Bachelor’s degree, current Athletic Equipment Manager Association certification or ability to become certified within 12 months. Familiarity with sports equipment inventory software such as SportSoft or ACS.
