BLACKSBURG, Va. (WVIR) – Researchers at Virginia Tech say they have developed a program that rates different types of sports helmets.
The Virginia Tech Helmet Lab was created to inform people which helmet choice is the right fit for them. It rates popular helmets commonly found on the market based on how well they protect people from concussions.
“Our mission is to allow consumers to make educated decisions when they purchase a helmet as one factor, as well as cost and looks and personal preference, in deciding which helmet is best for them.” said Steve Rowson, Director of Helmet Lab.
You can search for helmets by sport. Each one is ranked from one to five stars.
